Me wants!Used mainly by tactical assault groups and SWAT teams, throat microphones are something you rarely see on the street. This will change now with Sanwa’s latest hands free system, a Japanese phone design based on a military throat microphone:Sanwa via Akihabaranews.com

In 1966 IBM mainframes could only connect to other IBM mainframes, Burroughs only to other Burroughs, etc. Beginning in 1967 the US Defense Department’s Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) office sponsored development of a „heterogeneous” network compatible with computers from any manufacturer.The ARPAnet Sourcebook: The Unpublished Foundations of the Internet Or, as Mr. Sterling likes to phrase it in his unmistakable ways:
&nsp;
That R&D effort, one of the most successful in history, resulted in the on-time, on-budget construction of the revolutionary ARPANET, the immediate predecessor of today’s Internet.
&nsp;
The ARPANET Sourcebook: The Unpublished Foundations of the Internet reproduces the seminal papers, reports, and RFCs that led to the birth of modern network computing. Most appear here in book form for the first time.
Too bad it costs eighty bucks … but eighty years from now, when nobody remembers the word „Internet,” a paper document like this one will seriously freak people out.

There’s a button in front for ejecting the drives, and a glowing blue ring that doubles a power switch. The $47 base will also accept 2.5” in addition to 3.5” internal. The designer puts some extra weight in the rack to avoid the drive from tipping over.
Allerdings ist der Preis heftig: 50 USD ohne EMS-Shipping. Und dann gibts derzeit noch ein Handicap: Due to the great success of this product we are now only taking pre-orders and will proceed with the shipping at the end of November/beginning of December.:(
Instead of requiring three different monitors (with three power cords, three cables, and so on), this display folds up into a neat tidy package. When folded, the display and keyboard fit into a 3-rack unit mount that will slide in and out of server rack space. The unit went on display at the Taitronics Autumn 2007 show in Taipei, Taiwan, and is expected to ship in 2008 for an undisclosed price.

Nachdem ich noch über einen Kubikmeter Kassetten haben, wäre das keine schlechte Anschaffung:
The Firebox, USB Cassette Deck looks just like an old cassette deck. Because essentially, that’s what it is, complete with tape counter, two slots and a metal/CrO2 tape selector. But there’s one addition - USB. That means it can hook up to your computer, then working with the Audacity and EZ Tape Converter software, it can copy your old tape tunes into digital music.USB Cassette Deck - Fast forward to the future. Afterwards, you can copy the digital tracks onto this usb-stick:

Tea too strong? Too weak? Problem solved. The tea penguin always brews the perfect cup. Set the timer for your ideal brew time (from 1 minute up to 20) and he lowers the teabag into the water. When the time is up, he lifts it out.Penguin Teaboy

The ASCII-Code curtains, by Dutch designer Nienke Sybrandy, visualize the information network in a tree, using the very codes that represent text in computers, communications equipment, and other devices that work with text.![]()
Plugged into a home network, Semaclock connects to the Internet to retrieve news and topics of interest from one of the thousands of freely-available RSS feeds, and then displays them using the semaphore alphabet.
Carefully designed by Tim Elverston, this high-end addition to the WindFire collection marks the beginning of the WindFire OS Series. The „Cursor Kite” featires quad-line control, asymmetrical framing, invisible stainless fittings, and opposed-bow tensioning for the sail.

The Humdinga, basically a modified Hummer, is able to reach 64 km/h on water, thanks to its 350bhp engine that, when using its wheels on the ground, can take the American tank up to over 160 km/h. „The wheels retract, the power train switches from the wheels to a jet propulsion system and the vehicle is in amphibious mode” says maker Gibbs Technology, clearly hoping robot fever wins it a bit of positive PR. The Humdinga is currently a one-off prototype, though, which is probably for the best as even the insurance on a 1.8 Golf is a bit much to swallow these days.The Difference Between Men and Boys is the Price of the ToysVia Techdigest.

In case you want to give me a present and do not know what, check out my Amazon Wishlist. ;) Small, non-sequentially numbered, unmarked dollar or euro bills in an executive case are also welcome.
