Chutzpah
Ben Langhinrichs is a great guy. For the seventh year he provides the Notes Community with something that Lotus/IBM doesn’t provide: a Lotusphere Agenda Database for PDA Synching and Session Planning. And he does that for free, no strings attached.
And then there is this „technology consultant” Robert H. Baehr, the self proclaimed „Unofficial Poster Child For Lotus Notes and Domino”, posting in his blog: „The Genii Lotusphere Session Database for Lotusphere 2007 has been posted in the downloads section of BOBBAEHR.COM.” And I went „wait a moment”. I can’t imagine that Ben posted his database not to his own server.
And it gets „better”. To download the Database from his server, Mr. Baehr requires a name and and valid email address so that he can eiter send you the database or a link to it. Can you spell „adress harvesting”? WTF?
I can’t imagine the chutzpah this man must have, using a freely available database to harvest contacts.
As Ben said in a comment to Mr. Baehrs blog: „As the copyright holder, I don’t much mind people handing the database around, but I do object to its use as a way of harvesting contact information. People who want the database can get it for free and without providing any information on our website …”
You can get Genii Software’s 7th Annual Lotusphere Agenda Database for PDA Synching and Session Planning at Genii Softwares site.
