Microsoft und Unified Communications: Bitte warten ...
Wir kennen doch sicher alle die „tollen” Präsentationen von Microsft aus den letzten Monaten, wo sie herzeigen, wie supa es nicht ist, wenn man über Sprachsteuerung seine Termine verschieben kann, etc. (wenn man Active Directory Server, Exchange Server mit neuer HW, Live Communications Server und vermutlich noch ein paar andere MS Producte gekauft hat).
Ich war ja schon bezgliche dieses Features sehr skeptisch - auch in Wien habe ich bis jetzt immer nur englischsprachige Demos gesehen.
Ein aktueller Artikel bei Infoworld führt nun aus, dass man nun NUR NOCH zwei Jahre warten muss, bis Microsofts Unified Communications Lösungen mit dem Office Communications Server als Herzstück (vielleicht) funktionieren wird:
Microsoft admitted that it needs to do a better job at offering voicemail survivability and provide a better means of maintaining function in the event of a loss of connection to the data center, perhaps providing backup capabilities via the public switched telephone network (PSTN). These issues will be addressed in Office Communications Server (OCS) 2010.
