Timeo Sonym et dona ferentes
Sony Chairman and CEO Sir Howard Stringer in an interview with „Die Welt”:
I set the target, to be achieved by March 2011, of a product portfolio in which 90 percent of the devices will be capable of networking and connecting wirelessly. It’s a tall order. Our engineers have to work across all our divisions in order to develop standards. This includes the consumer electronics division as well as the film and music production units.
Dear Mr. Stringer, dear Sony management, PLEASE learn from your mistakes! Homebrewn „standards” don’t cut it any more, as you should have learned by now.
But they will probably try to do the same thing as Apple in trying to shackle it’s customers into some sort of proprietary „standards” and digital „value chains”.
