Map Logitech Back/Forward Buttons to Media Controls on Linux Mint
I usually let Rythmbox run in random mode. But depending on my mood, I want to skip a song now an then. As Lenovo moved the media controls from FN-Cursor (W520) to Fn-Function (W530) key combinations (FN-F10/F12 for previous/next track), I was looking for a simpler solution. Roll in the Previous/Next Page Buttons of my M570 Trackball!
sudo apt-get install xbindkeys touch ~/.xbindkeysrc
Then add the following lines to ~/.xbindkeysrc using your favourite editor:
# button further away from the user -> previous track "xvkbd -xsendevent -text "\[XF86AudioPrev]"" m:0x0 + b:8 # button closer to the user -> next track "xvkbd -xsendevent -text "\[XF86AudioNext]"" m:0x0 + b:9
Add „xbindkeys” to your „Startup Applications” (if not already done by the xbindkeys installation and your are done.
