Microsoft Exchange Update == Neue Hardware ???

It is not supported to upgrade your operating system to Windows Server 2008, and then upgrade to Exchange 2007 SP1. It is also not supported to upgrade to Exchange 2007 SP1, and then upgrade your operating system to Windows Server 2008. To deploy Exchange 2007 SP1 on Windows Server 2008, you must install Windows Server 2008 on a computer that does not have Exchange installed, and then install Exchange 2007 SP1.
Aus Microsoft Technet: How to Upgrade to Exchange 2007 SP1
Dell und HP reiben sich die Hände bei solchen „Anleitungen”.
Man vergleiche das mit beispielsweise mit Linux (30 Min. für ein Update von Debian Sarge auf Etch, inkl. Applikationsupdates) oder Lotus Domino (5 Minuten für ein 8.0.0 auf 8.0.1 Update, 30 Minuten für ein Update von 7.x auf 8.0.1) – alles natürlich „in place” auf der gleichen Maschine und zumeist mit Performancezuwächsen aufgrund der neueren Versionen.
