Jack Dorsey’s New Company Falling Apart as It Forces Employees to Use AI

“Top-down mandates to use large language models are crazy,” one employee told Wired. “If the tool were good, we’d all just use it.”

They’re also required to send weekly update emails to him, echoing Elon Musk’s DOGE requirement for federal staffers to summarize five weekly achievements in emails. (The requirement was mostly ignored, months before DOGE largely crumbled.)

Dorsey then reportedly uses generative AI to summarize his staffers’ emails. During the all-hands meeting, he noted that “performance anxiety” and “widespread concerns about layoffs” were clearly vexing staff.

Microsoft throws spox under the bus in ICC email flap

It was reported in the Dutch press that Microsoft told the ICC the sanctions meant it had to deny Khan access to its services. The report said the ICC would have to end the chief prosecutor’s access to the services, otherwise Microsoft would end the email services for the whole organization. The ICC then decided to suspend Kahn’s email services.

Why We (I) Keep so Many of These Old IT Devices Around

Just read a beautiful reason why we (I) keep so many of these old IT devices:

Every one of these old objects is the distillation of a group’s beliefs about what the future will look like. They’re not junk. They are memorials for an imagined better tomorrow.

What happens inside Postgres when IOPS runs out

During the incident, the system hit 3000 IOPS and stayed there. It didn’t recover on its oown. We had to kill connections manually. Why? What was actually happening inside Postgres that made the situation self-sustaining? I had a wrong mental model for days. This post is about fixing that.

You keep saying that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Ticketmaster ist böse. Punkt.

Attachment(s): 1xxxxxxxxxxx-71_xx6_2(4).pdf - https://help.ticketmaster.de/attachments/token/F...

Nennt mich altmodisch, aber für mich ist ein „Attachment” Bestandteil der Email und nicht ein Downloadlink, der ohne Passwort das PDF lädt. Wiktionary gibt mir da Recht:

attachment

From French attachement. From attacher (“to attach”) + -ment.

6. (computing) A file sent along with a message, usually an email.

Hauptsache, man kann die Kunden noch einmal mehr tracken. GRUML.

P.S.: Ja, der Titel ist selbstverständlich eine Anspielung auf „The Princes Bride

Be Kind, Bring Joy, Repeat

Spring Cleaning: Mail Folders

I like to have a mail folder for every event, … I attend. I also like to keep all my mails. But I also want to keep my folder list easy to grasp on a quick glance. So I want/need to move „old” folders to an archive, so I can still access them but they do not clutter the projects view.

In the last (ten?) years, I used Thunderbird to move my old project mails into the „zzz_Archive” folder, with yearly subfolders containing the projects of that year. Mozilla Thunderbird archiving supports this quite well.

Recently I came to the conclusion, that using a client side tool for this is rather cumbersome and inefficient, so I was looking for a server-side solution.

Enter „dovecot-archive”, which is a doveadm wrapper for common mail archival tasks. And it does exactly, what I want it to do:

dovecot-archive --user $USER --folder 'Projects' --dst-root-folder 'zzz_Archive' --namespace-separator '.' --split-by-year --before 2026-01-01

This does exactly what I want it to do, without having to first set up Thunderbird, transfering messages, etc. Neat!
