It would be nearly impossible to isolate oneself from news of results because even if you don’t read Twitter or Facebook or go to the net, someone you know, someone you run into will. Information can’t be controlled. Amen.

The lead author and editor of the OAuth 2.0 network authorization standard has stepped down from his role, withdrawn his name from the specification, and quit the working group, describing the current version of the spec as „the biggest professional disappointment of my career.”

London Eye light show to gauge Olympic moaning on Twitter - CNET Mobile

Launched by feisty Olympic legend Daley Thompson, of button-bashing 8-bit fame, the show will start at 9 p.m. every night the games are on. Positive tweets will color the wheel gold, the Metro reports; negative will make it purple. Eye sponsor EDF Energy reckons it’s the first disaster-waiting-to-happen social media-driven light show.

Managing time in DB2 with temporal consistency

The new temporal features in IBM® DB2® 10 provide rich capabilities for time-based data management. Nicht umzubringen: E-Voting oder „Wahlen per Internet” in Österreich

Die „Zeitung” „Österreich vermeldet:

Staatssekretär Josef Ostermayer spricht sich im ÖSTERREICH-Interview (Sonntagsausgabe) für Wahlen per Internet aus. „Wenn es ein funktionierendes Modell gibt, warum nicht?”

Zu der Bürgerbefragung in Graz, bei der fast die Hälfte per Internet gestimmt hat, meint Ostermayer: „Das ist ein wesentlicher Punkt. Das E-Voting setzt die Hürde für die Bürgerbeteiligung herab.”

Und auch die Junge ÖVP freut sich:

Internet-Beteiligung besonders beachtlich; an mehr Bürgerbeteiligung führt kein Weg mehr vorbei

Dass sich diese „Bürgerbefragung” online auf rechtlich fragwürdigem Boden bewegte, ist SPÖVP offensichtlich egal.

Ganz abgesehen davon, dass Hr. Ostermayer offensichtlich ignoriert, dass laut Verfassungsgerichtshofs (VfGH) E-Voting in seiner derzeitigen Form in Österreich gesetzeswidrig ist. Dass keiner der „Journalisten” von „Österreich” diesbezüglich nachfragte, verwundert hingegen kaum.

Man darf auch gespannt, sein, welche funktionierenden, internationale Beispiele für e-Voting Hr. Ostermayer für die Entscheidungsfindung heranziehen wird. Auf papierwahl.at finden sich keine.

Und was SPÖVP vom Thema „direkte Demokratie” halten, das in dem Interview auch zur Sprache kam, kann man ja anhand der Behandlung der Bürgerinitiative zur Vorratsdatenspeicherung sehen.
