Computer Hood - Prior Art
I tracked this story back to Siggraph2006 Fashion Show via Übergizmo -> popgadget -> bookofjoe -> Coruscant City Forums: The Ultimate Hoodie -> Computer Hood & Public/Private
The SIGGRAPH2006 Fashion Show presents, according to their website, a runway show of innovative and experimental works in computational and conceptual couture, fashion with a social agenda, science-inspired form, and new technologies of material fabrication.
The topic of all these stories is a completely soundproof hooded top you can stretch over the computer. Black lycra lining in the tunnel blocks out light. Latex grips hold it to the monitor. It looks like this:
Unfortunately for Joe Malia, the designer of this „Computer Hood”, this is already a product. IBM/Lenovo produced a shade with an elastic end to fit almost any display for the 2000 Olympics. You can read it up in Lenovos „Design Matters” blog.
P.S.: As the ‘World’s most popular blogging anesthesiologist’ correctly pointed out to me: Joe Malia’s solution is portable and wearable (and even soundproof) whereas Lenovo’s shade is „only” portable.
So please re-read this blog-entry with a „tongue in cheek” mindset – which I would recommend for my whole blog.
