Vista - Available soon
On January 30th Microsoft releases to consumers the newest version of its operating system, called Windows Vista. And as the media will be full of „vista is soo cool and innovative and enhancing productivity”, here are some interesting links.
CNN Money: Microsoft Vista: Should you buy now?
… only a small share of corporate users will be upgrading to Vista this year. Most who do will replace older PCs with new ones preloaded with Vista.
With User Account Control in the new Windows Vista operating system, you can reduce the risk of exposure by limiting administrator-level access to authorized processes.
Although the statement
Vista, its long-awaited update to the Windows operating system, can’t run the current version of SQL Server is not correct, Microsoft admits, that they have a problem with UAC:
It is true that there is a known issue related to how Vista User Account Control impacts the ability to connect to a default installation of SQL Express SP1
Now, if even Microsoft can’t get their applications to work together properly with UAC, I do not even want to think about other software vendors, given the standards of microsofts public documentation.
