Local Domino Webserver Won't Start While Skype Is Running
If you are, like me, a Lotus Notes/Domino Developer&Admin, you probably have a small Domino server running on your desktop maschine. And if you are doing web-development, the http task is running on that machine too, right?
As I am working on an LDAP-authentication project integrating smartcards and foreign LDAP-Servers with Domino and SSL, I often have to restart the server to reset everything. One in three times, the webserver won’t answer to https requests after a restart. http was fine. Fortunately I remembered a blog-posting by Christopher ‘The Business Controls Caddy’ Byrne regarding Dominos webserver and Skype.
The solution was trivial. Stop Skype and there are no problems communicating with the domino webserver via port 80 or 443 (SSL). And if you follow Rocky’s advice and (inside Skype) go to Tools/Options, Connection, and turn OFF „Use port 80 and 443”, you can still use Skype while doing web-development on your desktop-box.
