JMP404 QuickStart: Introduction to IBM Lotus Expeditor and Eclipse Architecture
Lotus Expeditor, which is IBM’s new JavaEE client application development and runtime platform, is based on Eclipse, and is also the basis for our latest version of IBM Lotus Notes 8, IBM Lotus Sametime 7.5 & 8, and Lotus Symphony. If you want to know more about the Java programmability features that are available in the Lotus Expeditor platform, this Quickstart is for you. We’ll cover all of the basics of Lotus Expeditor programmability and runtime capabilities. Come and get a real foundation for many other sessions presented throughout the rest of the week.
Jim Robbins, Expedtor Lead Architect and Pierre Carlson tried to explain, what Lotus Expeditor is (Both a product and a platform). But after this revealing fourth slide, the session went down the drain.
Instead of some code and a few simple examples, Jim and Pierre presented overloaded slide after overloaded slide. The only variety were a few flash demos, where they couldn’t even get the solution right so you could see it in the last rows. The let the videos just roll, they didn’t even comment on the action on the screen or added something to the recorded audio.
What I did like
—What I didn’t like
Lots. Sorry. That session was a waste of time. If I had known that, I would have attended another session there would have been enough. Tipp: If you need a table of acronyms and their meaning for a JumpStart session, there is something wrong! Tagged as: Lotusphere, Lotusphere2008, review, session | Author: Martin Leyrer
