Sun fixes bug, makes me a happier Blogbridge user
My favorite blogreader is BlogBridge. I bit the bullet and bought the USD 5,–/3 month license for a unlimited number of feeds and am very happy with it. In their forum, they react to bug reports and questions in a timely manner and they even fixed „my” problem with the Vista UAC prompt.
One of the features, why I always recommend BlogBridge as a rss-reader, is the tagging-feature. If you have a del.ico.us account, just enter it in the settings and BlogBridge will retrieve your tags from del.icio.us and offer them, if you press „t” in an article. If you tag an article in BlogBridge and you entered your del.icio.us credentials, the tagged article will show up in your del.icio.us list. Fabulous!
Unfortunately, a bug in Suns Java Runtime Environment 1.6 prevented that functionality from working. For security reasons, del.icio.us insists on using SSL encrypted communication, which this bug prohibited. According to the Sun bug tracking system, this bug #6514454 already got fixed. Quote: „Release Fixed: 7(b16), 6u3(b01)”. Unfortunately, the problem still persisted in JRE-Version 1.6.0_03.
Luckily, the same bug report now states: „Release Fixed: 7(b16), 6u4(b01)”. And low and behold, it IS fixed in the JRE 1.6.0_04-b12 (you want to fetch the „Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 4”).
