ILUG 2008 -- What A Week, What A Community
The Irish Lotus Notes User Group Conference 2008 was unbelievable. If you weren’t there, you missed out big!
The „Green Team”, consisting of Paul Mooney, Eileen Fitzgerald, Warren and Kitty Elsmore, Bill Buchan, Matt White, Julian Woodward, Tom Duff, Rob Novak and many more organized a three day, free-to-attend technical conference with 4 parallel tracks for about 400 delegates that could – at least on an organizational level and in regards to the speakers – compete with any commercial conference.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!!
And no, It’s not a Conference Run By Short People.
A big thank you should also go out to the sponsors, who made the event possible. Even if you were not at ILUG2008 please do check out their offerings and maybe buy their products so they can sponsor additional events.
Apart from the great sessions and givaways, what really stood out was the spirit everybody was in. No foul words, everybody smiling (and meaning it), everybody open. You could walk up to anybody, anytime and ask him something, talk about his/her blog or whatever – everybody listened, talked, made jokes – even if they were dead tired or still hung over.
I met a bunch of old friends, made – at least that’s what I think – quite a few new (Hi Theo, Vitor, Steve, Steve, Steward, Ben, …!) and had LOTS of great conversations.
I am soooo glad, that I did attend, even though it was not easy to manage, and if there will be an ILUG 2009, I will be there, no matter what.
