Da gibt es ein IT-Magazin, das stellt von zweiwöchentlicher Erscheinungsweise auf monatlich um, will ein Magzin sein und verstärkt „Systemadministratoren in KMUs und Großunternehmen sowie Entscheidungsträger” ansprechen.

Schade nur, dass es auf der Homepage besagter Zeitung/Magazins keine Informationen zu dem „neuen” Medium gibt. Die Leser und Abonnenten müssen sich über den Webstandard informieren, was der Verlag so vor hat. Und das, obwohl der 30.01.2006 als Erscheinungstermin für die erste Ausgabe angeführt wird. So wie es aussieht, hat noch keiner die neue Ausgabe. Ob man da wieder mal nicht rechtzeitig fertig wurde?

Nur kurz zum Titelbild: Kulturell steht Schwarz laut Wikipedia in der westlichen Welt für Trauer, für das Böse und für Bedrohung.

Dass die Homepage weiterhin „Computerzeitung” im Titel führt, überrascht da auch nicht mehr wirklich. Mal schaun, ob die Inhalte nun besser geworden sind, oder ob man doch besser zu c’t, iX und/oder economy greifen sollte.

John Head has set up an area in Ben Poole’s Lotusphere 2006 wiki in order to store/point to updated slide and sample files from the different sessions. So especially for the Best Practices track, this is the place to download.

IBM at last offers the presentations of Lotusphere 2006 as ZIP-files per Track at Lotusphere Online (for registered attendees only).

And I can offer you a litte wget-hack to download the indvidual presentation-PDFs automatically from Lotusphere Online.

Almost no yellow backpacks show up in the Dolphins lobby and the Lotusphere WiFi-Network, which I was able to use in the 19th floor, was turned off at arounf ten am. Yes, in Friday morning, Lotusphere 2006 was officially over and I had to head back home. And to be honest, was looking forward to coming home to the family, restaurants without queues, etc.

Und das Traurige daran: Es handelt sich um einen HTL Schüler. Der sollte Probleme schon besser formulieren können.

Surviving the Welcome Party, the official part of Lotusphere started. One nice thing about being accredited as a member of the press is the reserved seating area during the keynote. Saves a lot of time queing and getting a seat and in the front row it not only offers a great view, but also lots of legroom. See more ...

„Surprises” - that’s what Ed Brill is promising for the keynote on monday. Hmmm. It is definately too early for „Hannover”. They will probably just show some running Alpha-Code or some more „slideware”.
I would put my money on a current Notes-Client for Mac OX C, without a Designer though. There are also some rumors regardings the Instant Messaging/Videoconferencing Platform Sametime. The only „interessting” thing would be a Linux-version. Up untill now, you will need a Windows-Server for Sametime.
The rest will probably some hot air regarding Workplace, Portal and stuff.
We will see …

Notiz an selbst: Freunde sind wichtig. Auch wenn man im Stress ist, sollte man sich zumindest die Zeit für ein paar freundliche Worte nehmen und später für ein längeres Plaucherl zurückrufen – wer weiß, ob man es sonst später nicht einmal bereut.

After about seven hours of sleep – can somebody explain to me, why I don’t need an alarm clock at a interesting conference – I was ready for Lotusphere day zero. Sunday traditionally is „Business Development Day” but there are also some hands on labs open and several Jump-Start sessions before the conference official beginns with the party at night.

Mit Hosted Exchange bietet Inode ab sofort – in Kooperation mit T-Mobile Austria und Microsoft Österreich – ein neues, attraktives Serviceangebot für kleine und mittlere Unternehmen. Die auf die Verwaltung und Verarbeitung von E-Mails, Kontakten, Terminen und Aufgaben spezialisierte Software kann nun bei Inode in Form eines Application Service Providing Angebotes einfach und günstig gemietet werden.

Angeboten wird Hosted Exchange im Rahmen eines Grundpakets um monatlich 69,90 Euro, das beliebig erweiterbar ist. Das Grundpaket enthält fünf Postfächer mit jeweils 1 GB Speicherplatz, einen öffentlichen Ordner mit 1 GB und einer beliebigen Zahl von Unterordnern sowie eine Domain (.at, .co.at, or.at, .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .name, .de). Die einmaligen Einrichtungskosten belaufen sich auf 99,90 Euro. Jedes zusätzliche Exchange Postfach mit 1 GB Speicherplatz kostet monatlich 9,90 Euro. Für 1 GB zusätzlichen Speicher im öffentlichen Ordner fallen 19,90 Euro monatlich an.

Und Postfächer mit einem Gigabyte? Ja schafft das der Sexchange-Server überhaupt. Ich dachte, die bewegen sich noch im MB-Bereich? ;)

Und wie ist dass, wenn man eine Mailbox wiederherstellen muss? Ist dann der ganze Server offline? Für alle User? Also ob Sexchange für eine gehostete Lösung wirklich die ideale Lösung ist …

Wie citizen428 bereits berichtet hat, hat mir meine Susanne am Montag eine Überraschungsfeier/Abendessen zu meinem Geburtstag eingerichtet. Gefeiert wurde im imás!, das sich als sehr gemütlich erwies.

Erster Jänner, im Fernsehen läuft das Neujahrskonzert. Über die Programmwahl und die Dirigenten kann man unterschiedlicher Meinung sein – mir persönlich hat ja der Harnoncourt sehr gut gefallen.

Was mich als gelegentlichen Musikvereinsbesucher allerdings jedes Jahr überrascht, ist das Fehlen jedlicher Hüstler und Handyklingler während des Neujahrskonzertes.

Soda, den ersten Jänner hab ich gleich mal für ein paar Updates benutzt.

1. Encoding-Fehler behoben.
   Ich habe beim RSS-Feed vergessen, die &s korrekt zu encoden, worauf sich der Stream nicht parsen ließ. Das Problem ist behoben, genauso wie einige andere kleinere Fehler. Die Feeds sollten wieder valid sein.
2. Feed mit formatierten Inhalten
   Für all jene, die nur mehr in ihrem Feedreader leben, gibt es jetzt auch einen Feed mit dem kompletten Inhalt und allen Formatierungen – im Gegensatz zu dem Feed der „führenden österreichische Computerzeitung” (Eigendefinition), die u.a. anstelle „ordentlicher” Umlaute in ihrem Feed noch immer ae, oe, etc. schreibt.
3. Standard Feed Icons
   Nachdem sich Microsoft dazu durchgerungen hat, die RSS-Icons von Firefox zu übernehmen, habe auch ich die „Standard-Icons” übernommen.

Even now, the Oompa Loompas are hard at work out in Redmond, simultaneously regression-testing and translating Microsoft’s WMF patch into Swahili and Urdu. And, somehow, as if by magic, all of this work will wind down at precisely the right moment so that the WMF patch doesn’t have to be released „out of cycle.” How convenient! Especially if you’re wanting to avoid all of that nasty „Microsoft Releases Emergency Patch” publicity.

Coalescent (de: Der Orden) von Stephen Baxter war 2004 eines der besten Bücher, die ich gelesen habe. Auch wenn das Buch unter SF eingeordnet wird, darf man sich keine Raumschlachten, Zeitreisen und ähnliches erwarten. Vielmehr erzählt Baxter eine epische Geschichte, die sich vom 5. Jahrhundert über die Jetztzeit bis in die ferne Zukunft spannt.

Einen vollkommen neuen Weg der Fehlersuche und Behebung geht das Markt- & Meinungsforschungsunternehmen OEKONSULT. Sie suchen die Fehler in der E-Card Infrastruktur via Umfrage:

Aus einer vorgelegten Liste von 8 möglichen Ursachen von Störungen und Problemen benennen die Befragten nach ihrer Vermutung technische Pannen bei der Computerhardware mit 77 Prozent als die häufigste Fehlerursache. 72 Prozent (Mehrfachnennungen waren zulässig) vermuten Internet- und Verbindungsprobleme, 70 Prozent argwöhnen Programmierungsschwächen. Dahinter rangiert auf Platz vier „Bedienungsfehler durch Ordinationsassistenz” mit 59 Prozent, gefolgt von Managementproblemen der Sozialversicherungen (57 Prozent). Der manglenden e-Card Erfahrung des jeweiligen behandelnden Arztes schreiben 56 Prozent der Umfrageteilnehmer als Ursache zu, wenn die Chipkarte ihren Dienst verweigert. Unzureichende Computerausstattung in der Arztpraxis nennen 52 Prozent. Schäden an der Karte selbst vermuten dagegen lediglich 44 Prozent.

Was kommt als Nächstes? Fehlerbehebung durch Politikerreden?
